Elrond is a character in J.R.R. Tolkien’s works, but he is not a character in “The Hobbit.” who is a significant character in “The Lord of the Rings” and also makes appearances in “The Silmarillion,” another of Tolkien’s works.
In “The Lord of the Rings,” Elrond is an elf who resides in Rivendell (also known as Imladris), an elven refuge hidden in the foothills of the Misty Mountains. He is a wise and ancient figure who possesses great knowledge and insight into the events of Middle-earth. Elrond is also a skilled healer and scholar.
In “The Lord of the Rings,” Elrond plays a crucial role in the Council of Elrond, where representatives of various races gather to decide the fate of the One Ring. It is at this council that the decision is made to form the Fellowship of the Ring, a group tasked with taking the Ring to Mount Doom to destroy it. Elrond also provides valuable guidance and support to the members of the Fellowship throughout their journey.
Elrond’s character has a deeper history that is explored in “The Silmarillion,” where his lineage, background, and involvement in the larger history of Tolkien’s world are detailed. He is the son of Eärendil and Elwing and is descended from both elves and men, giving him a unique perspective on the conflicts and struggles of Middle-earth.
To summarize, while Elrond is not a character in “The Hobbit,” he is a significant and influential character in “The Lord of the Rings” and has a broader presence in Tolkien’s legendarium through “The Silmarillion.”
