Sam Neill, whose full name is Nigel John Dermot Neill, is a New Zealand actor, producer, and director who was born on September 14, 1947, in Omagh, Northern Ireland.

He gained international recognition with his role in the 1993 blockbuster film “Jurassic Park,” directed by Steven Spielberg, where he played the character Dr. Alan Grant. Neill’s portrayal of the paleontologist in the film contributed to its immense success.

Some of Neill’s other notable film roles include appearances in movies like “The Hunt for Red October” (1990), “Dead Calm” (1989), “The Piano” (1993), “The Horse Whisperer” (1998), and “Event Horizon” (1997), among others. He is known for his ability to take on a wide range of characters in various genres.

Aside from his film work, Sam Neill has also been involved in television projects. He starred in the television series “Merlin” and “Peaky Blinders,” and he portrayed the titular role in the miniseries “Reilly, Ace of Spies.” He also appeared in the third installment of the “Jurassic Park” franchise, “Jurassic Park III” (2001).

In addition to his acting career, Sam Neill is an accomplished winemaker. He owns a vineyard in New Zealand and produces his own wine under the label “Two Paddocks.”.
